Cooper Elementary celebrates students in a variety of ways. A few of our reoccurring student celebrations are listed below. 

Eagle’s Nest Award:

• One class will be recognized at Rise & Shine (bi-weekly Fridays) for keeping their classroom neat and tidy.
• The class will display the Eagle in their classroom and then bring it with them to assembly on Fridays

Eagle of the Week/Character Strong Student of the Week:

• Presented to 2 students per class at Rise & Shine (bi-weekly Fridays) for demonstrating the character trait of the month.
• The Family Engagement Coordinator will print certificates for the year and make sure classroom teachers have them ready to go.

Golden Plate Award:

• One class will be recognized bi-weekly at Rise & Shine for following lunchroom procedures, keeping the lunchroom clean, and using their manners.  
• The class that earned the golden plate is asked to display it throughout the two weeks and then bring it with them to assembly on Rise & Shine Fridays

TERRIFIC Kids/The Kiwanis Club of Derby:

• Each teacher will select 2 students from their class each semester to be recognized as the TERRIFIC Kid award recipient at the designated Rise & Shine Award Ceremony
• The award should be given to a student who has demonstrated overall excellence in showing character traits, academic achievement and good behavior.
