Welcome to Cooper Elementary! We are excited to have you at our school. Our Arrival/Dismissal Procedures have been in place for several years now. Our priority is to ensure students are safe and our procedures are efficient.  

Morning Arrival Procedures

• Car Riders: Cars will enter the lot by turning RIGHT off of Juniper Street (reference the photo below) into the drop-off lane. Please plan ahead and approach the school by driving South on Juniper to the parking lot. Cars will not be permitted to turn left into the drop-off lane.
  • Students will be dropped off in groups of 5 near the front door
  • Cars will follow the drop off lane and may turn right or left out of the lot (see two lanes)
• Walkers: Walkers will walk along Chestnut to the south side of the building and will approach door #1 using the sidewalk which runs along the east side of the building 
  • All bicycles must be walked when on school property. Bicycle racks are located near door #1.
• Bus Riders: Buses will unload at the back of the school. They will enter the south parking lot and utilize the fire lane.
• Parking: Parents may park in the main parking lot and walk their child up to the building. Parents need to utilize crosswalks. Please utilize the entrance off Juniper indicating access to the parking lot

Tardies: Please note that students must be inside the building before 7:45AM (8:45AM on Monday). Students who enter the building after the 7:45AM bell are marked tardy. Please plan enough time in the morning to arrive and ensure your child is in the building by 7:45AM (8:45AM on Monday).

Afternoon Dismissal Procedures

• Car Riders: Cars will enter the pick-up line by turning RIGHT off of Juniper Street (reference the photo below) into the pickup  lane. Please plan ahead and approach the school by driving south on Juniper to the parking lot. Cars will not be permitted to turn left into the drop-off lane.
  • Families picking up students in 2nd-5th grade only will enter the YELLOW line
  • Families picking up students in K or 1 (including older siblings) will enter the BLUE line.
  • We will be able to load up to ten cars at a time.
  • One lane will be dismissed at a time
  • Cars may turn left onto Chestnut or right onto Chestnut (see lanes/arrows)
• Walkers: Walkers will be escorted by a teacher along the south side of the building and to the Chestnut and Juniper crosswalk.  
  • All bicycles must be walked when on school property.  
  • Crossing guards will be available at the corner of Juniper and Chestnut as well as crossing the exit lane drive
• Bus Riders: Buses will load at the back of the school.  They will enter the south parking lot and utilize the fire lane
• Parking: Parents may park in the main parking lot if space is available and walk up to get their child from their teacher’s line. Parents need to utilize crosswalks when accessing their children (please do not walk across car lines). Please utilize the entrance/exit off Juniper indicating access to the parking lot.
